Hawaiian Word of the Week: Aloha

We have all heard the word “aloha” (pronounced: ah-loh-ha) and we have used this word mostly as a greeting of hello or goodbye. Aloha literally means the ‘breath of life’ and at the core of the word is a deep feeling…the feeling of love.

We talk so much about the feeling of aloha here at She Lives Aloha. It’s the feeling we all get when we go to Hawaii. We immediately feel the love we have for the islands…we feel the love that the Hawaiian people show us…and we look to aloha as a philosophy of how to live our lives, with kindness, compassion and love for others. With Valentine’s Day tomorrow, we think about not only how we show aloha to the people in our lives but also to our community.

How will you show your aloha this Valentine’s Day?
