Read MoreWe started She Lives Aloha because we know how hard it is to find aloha in the everyday moments. That’s why we go on vacation because it’s easier to have those feelings of delight when we are hundreds of miles away from our home. We package up our aloha kits because we absolutely want you to feel like you are on vacation even when you are not.
But, we know it is easier said than done. That’s why we need our Akamai moments. Akamai--Hawaiian for smart, clever. I wish I had been ‘akamai’ eight years ago when my son was born and felt like I never had a moment to myself.
Last year I had the ah-ha moment while I was overseeing my son’s bath. Why wasn’t I putting on a face mask while I bathed him? The bath usually takes about twenty minutes, the time required for a face mask. I could stop neglecting my skin and finally find time to ‘spa at home’.
What did my son think of it? Mom looked funny, but I wish I had thought of this years ago.
Even if you don’t have to bathe someone, think about putting the mask on while in the shower, or when you are binging your favorite show.
The case for scrapping New Year’s resolutions and setting intentions instead.
